Bloggity blog

Here's my first time blogging. For those who stumble upon this and think, "Wow, Aaron never struck me as a blogger", you're right. This is a fulfillment of a semester long assignment. I have chosen to blog in Helvetica font. I feel this is fitting because my life will feel like hell this semester (not due to this class, Professor Middleton). However, I won't complain, because we all know someone who blogs as a means of venting. Those aren't fun.

I suppose I should fulfill the requisite weekly assignment by mentioning something I learned this week. Something I learned during my week is that Jews and Mormons enjoy a very unique relationship that perhaps go unappreciated by the majority of Church members.

Back in the day, President Benson visited Israel a few times. He was well-respected and appreciated there. He told their political leaders of Orson Hyde's dedication of Palestine for the return of the Jews. One Israeli appreciated it so much that he asked for the story in more detail so he could record it in his personal reflections.

President Benson, in an address to Mormons, Jews, and others, reflected on the fact that we are all children of Israel, and thus an equal birthright to all of the Father's blessings. Both Jews and Mormons strongly believe in the literal gathering of Israel.

I will apply this knowledge by asking the next Jew I know about their thoughts on the gathering of Israel. I will also strive to remember that just because I have the fulness of the Gospel doesn't make me any more special than any other person.

Here's one!
